The Challenge

Our customer asked us to conduct an onsite packing job for two items, one weighing 7 tonnes and one weighing 20 tonnes, ready to ship to Norway.

The Result

As standard practice we supply the crate with a strengthened base. The base is made up of 4 layers of timber and plywood laminated together to allow extremely heavy items to be shipped without movement or damage. We constructed the crate onsite to allow us to ratchet strap the item to the base for added security. We then sea-fastened with timber posts and framed the lid to allow the item to be lifted with a crane. We boarded the top of the crate and cut out holes to allow the heavy duty slings to be accessible from the outside.
